Some have been captured and circulated on social media.
IPID says it's received 588 complaints.
"In KZN we currently have two cases, in Isipingo and Folweni. They are still under investigation," says the directorate's Ndileka Cola.
Cola adds: "The main challenge that we have been experiencing in KZN is lack of cooperation by key witnesses. And as you know, witnesses are very key in the investigation process.
"We are hoping that with time we will get maximum cooperation from key witnesses."
