IPID launches probe into death of Addelaid Ferreira-Watt

Police watchdog, IPID says they have launched an investigation into the death of senior State prosecutor, Addelaid Ferreira-Watt.
The 51-year-old was allegedly shot after a shotgun accidentally went off in the Umzimkhulu Regional Court on Monday.

Police say the loaded gun was being handed in as evidence in a home robbery case when it accidentally fired a round.
Watt was shot on the left side of her hip and later died in hospital.
IPID spokesperson, Sontaga Seisa says they were alerted to the incident on Tuesday.
"This is alleged to have been shot by a police officer, as IPID we are investigating this incident."
"We will contentiously give the update when everything is provided," he said.
