Gun accidentally goes off in court, kills KZN prosecutor

A senior State prosecutor has died in hospital after a shotgun accidentally went off in the Umzimkhulu Regional Court, hitting her.
KZN police spokesperson, Brigadier Jay Naicker says 51-year-old Addelaid Ferreira-Watt was working on a house robbery case at the court on Monday when the incident happened.

"A shotgun that was stolen during the house robbery was suppose to be put in as evidence and the firearm was brought to court."
"When the firearm was being handed in at court, a round accidentally went off and hit the court official," he said.
Watts was rushed to hospital after being hit on her left hip but died later.
Naicker says a case of culpable homicide has been opened.
