Instructing Attorney in Meyiwa trial to approach Legal Practice Council over Moonsamy comments
Updated | By Sibahle Motha
The Instructing Attorney in the Senzo Meyiwa trial says he will approach the Legal Practice Council to report comments made by Kelly Khumalo’s lawyer Magdalene Moonsamy.
Speaking to the media in the High Court in Pretoria on Thursday, Tshepo Thobane said he believes there is a need for the council to intervene.
He is unhappy about comments Moonsamy made around the allegations that it was Khumalo who shot and killed former Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa.
“My plan, I am saying, is that the legal practice council must intervene. They can intervene without us even lodging a complaint. I am not happy, you cannot go to the media and do those kinds of things. That is defeating the ends of justice."

“I mean let us say you’re a witness and someone says that they are going to sue me, I will be scared to go forward and we won’t have justice. Justice is two ways, it is for the victims and the accused.”
On Wednesday, Advocate Malesela Teffo, who represents four of the five accused in the Meyiwa murder trial, told the court he has evidence pointing to Khumalo as the one who shot and killed the goalkeeper.
Teffo said an eyewitness would be called to testify to this.
Speaking to Jacaranda FM News on Wednesday, Moonsamy said Khumalo is waiting for her day in court to finally break her silence.
