This is according to the National Consumer Commission.

Acting Commissioner, Thezi Mabuza, says at first -  all complaints were about the pricing of products to help protect against the spread of the coronavirus.

She says as the lockdown progressed complaints started to include other items, 'What we have picked up now is that consumers are complaining about foodstuff. We had received more than the normal range - about 200 complaints, but when we look at the second week after the regulation, we stood at toll as of 1 400 which is way above our norm. Under normal circumstances, as a commission, we receive around 400 complaints in a quarter."

Mabuza says the commission is currently awaiting judgement in a case against a supplier that increased the price of a 25-litre hand sanitizer from R990 to more than R2500.
