Independent probe into graft claims in De Ruyter book

Eskom's board chair says former boss Andre de Ruyter has broken their trust in the most repulsive manner.
De Ruyter has penned a memoir about his time at the helm of the power utility.
The book is titled: 'Truth to Power: My Three Years Inside Eskom' and details alleged graft at the entity.

Eskom chairperson Mpho Makwana spoke at a briefing at Eskom's headquarters on Thursday on the state of the electricity system.
He says an independent investigation will look into the corruption allegations made.
"Transgressions were carried out by an executive who was in a fiduciary position in possession of preparatory information of a national key point.
"Who himself evaded being vetted by processes that involve our national security service agency and, most importantly, breaches occurred in terms of the protection of personal information act.
"Various aspects of an executive director's duties are defined on the Companies Act, the PFMA and his own contract of employment clauses on confidentiality."

Meanwhile, Eskom says this afternoon's load shedding will be at stage 5 until Friday morning.
It will alternate between stages 4 and 5 on Friday.
