Two people were killed in another collision on the N2 just after the Higginson Highway off-ramp.
It's understood that the car collided with a truck.
"Paramedics have attended to multiple accidents during the day and at night and have also been attending to quite a few fatal collisions that have occurred during this time," says ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson.
"Paramedics would like to urge motorists to please drive carefully and expect a large amount of traffic and out-of-town visitors to our province and to be patient and cautious on the roads. Please slow down and obey the rules of the road."
