Illegal electricity connection claims a life in PMB
A woman believed to be in her 20s has died after falling onto exposed electrical wires in the Jika Joe informal settlement near East Street in Pietermaritzburg.
Emergency services say she tripped onto the wires, thought to be illegally connected, while walking in the early hours of this morning.
ER24's Russel Meiring says the woman was seriously injured.
"On assessment, we found the patient has already sustained a severe burn wound to her hand and back and showed no signs of life.
"Unfortunately, nothing could be done for the patient and she was declared dead on scene. Local authorities are on scene to disconnect the lines and for further investigations," he said.
