The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) in KZN has condemned the shooting of yet another councillor.
This time, the party said, it was Ward 13 councillor Lindokuhle Ndlovu who was the targer.
The attempt on his life took place near his home of Mpembeni just outside Richards Bay on Thursday night just after dropping off church congregants.
The incident took place as just recently councillor Innocent Mkhwanazi was shot and killed in Mtubatuba and Umhlathuze PR Councillor John Myaka was assassinated two weeks ago.
uMhlathuze's Municipal Manager, Nkosenye Zulu, said that SALGA recently reported the assassinations of 17 councillors in KZN in the past ten months alone.
"We are aware that SALGA recently released that statistics regarding the number of councillors who have since lost their lives since the beginning of this terms of office .We are concerned about the increasing occurrences of violent situations particularly in Umhlathuze. We call upon the police to do everything possible to ensure that those responsible are brought to book as soon as possible," said Zulu.
The latest attack on a provincial councillor comes as the DA in KZN has urged the premier to urgently intervene in order to put a stop to these suspected political killings.
