IEC KZN: All systems go for special votes today

The Independent Electoral Commission in KZN says its all systems go as special votes are to get underway today for the Local Government Elections.

The Commission's Ntombifuthi Masinga says over 67 000 people were approved for special votes in the province.


"Over 90 000 are home visits and over 70 000 are voting station visits. These are people are can't be at their local voting stations on the 1st of November", she said.


Masinga says there are two categories of people who are eligible to vote this weekend. 


She says the first are those who will be busy or involved in the elections process on Monday.


"The second category is that of people who are at home because their either disabled or too ill to get themselves to a voting station. This includes people who are quite advanced in their pregnancies and prefer to vote at home", Masinga said.
