IEB matrics improve on last year's results

The Independent Examinations Board has recorded
an overall matric pass rate of 98.46% in the 2023 assessments.

The results, released at midnight on Thursday, are slightly higher than the 98.42% scored by the class of 2022.
Some 88% of the private school pupils achieved a bachelor's pass.
One of them is Hilton College student Khanya Mhlongo, who bagged seven distinctions.

He's considering an offer from Yale University in the US to study economics.
Khanya attributes his 91% average mark to his determination over the years.
"This is incredible and when I reacted, I was filled with gratitude, gratitude to the school for all the help and resources they provided. Gratitude to my parents for all their support and of course gratitude to God, so I was expecting in specific results."
