IAAF World Champs: Sports Minister praises SA team

Minister of Sport and Recreation, Thulas Nxesi says South Africa's athletes must focus on maintaining momentum after a successful performance at the IAAF World Champs in London.
Some members of Team SA landed on home soil yesterday.
The team finished third overall on the medals table behind America and Kenya.
Gold medals were won by Wayde van Niekerk, Caster Semenya and Luvo Manyonga. Semenya, the 800m world champion, dedicated her gold medal to women across the country.

The 26-year-old was again the subject of derogatory comments and tweets about her gender and sexuality but also the recipient of much love and support from fans in South Africa.
Nxesi says Semenya is an inspiration to many women.
"Congratulations to the entire team including Caster Semenya - as she continued to add to our gold medal tally serving as a great ambassador to all our women athletes," he says.
South Africa won a total of six medals in London.
