I don't see ANC recalling President Zuma: analyst

A constitutional law expert believes the Nkandla court case may be the final political nail in President Jacob Zuma's coffin.
The EFF and DA's application on the Nkandla matter was heard in the Constitutional Court yesterday.
They want the highest court in the land to confirm the authority of the Public Protector.
Yesterday, Zuma's legal team conceded that Thuli Madonsela's findings on Nkandla are in fact binding.
The lawyer for the Speaker of Parliament also admitted that the National Assembly failed to hold President Zuma to account on Nkandla.
The Constitutional Court has reserved judgment.
Constitutional law expert and political analyst Richard Calland says yesterday was a dramatic day.
"There will be many people in the ANC and in the country who will be asking: What's the point of this? Why did he fight this for so long? Within the ANC there will be people saying we put our bodies on the line for this guy and now he's conceded everything at the last minute. Why did we bother," he said.
Calland says he can't see Zuma being recalled over this.
"The ANC I don't think has the appetite to recall him because it will be messy. It will be even be messier than with Thabo Mbeki's recall in 2008. Zuma is undoubtedly in a weak position than he was a year ago. He's been wounded by a series of events but my sense is that they would rather neuter him and prepare for succession," he said.
