She was found strangled to death at their home in October.

Shortly after her death, De Jager went missing, only to be found four days in what's been described as a disorientated state.

However, he was only arrested in November last year by the police's Cold Case Unit.

The case has been previously been postponed for the finalisation of reports on his mental well-being.

The state has previously indicated it will oppose bail.
