Human Rights Day event off to a slow start in Durban
Updated | By Anelisa Kubkeka
Buses transporting people to the official national Human Rights Day celebrations in Durban have begun arriving at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
Although posters advertising the event say festivities were to begin at 9am, people are only really beginning to arrive at the stadium now.
An anti-racism message is expected to dominate the programme today.
The stage has been set and sound checks are currently underway inside the stadium on the Durban beachfront.
Delegates have started taking their seats before festivities get underway.
President Jacob Zuma is expected to deliver the key note address at 11.30am.
The draft programme of events shows that Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga will handover the peace torch to Justice and Correctional Services Minister Michael Masutha in about an hour's time.
