Huge increase expected in year-end fuel price hike
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
Consumers are being urged to be extra careful with their spending over the festive season. Possible fuel price increases could put even more strain on our wallets.
The Automobile Association of South Africa is predicting a significant hike in all fuel prices again next month.
Increases in international oil prices and a weakening rand are seen as possible contributing factors.
"We're expecting illuminating paraffin to rise by 76 cents a litre, diesel by 64 cents and petrol by 72 cents a litre. At this stage, South Africa's economic situation remains weak. Our view is that further fuel prices can be expected during the remainder of 2017 and the first quarter of 2018," The AA's Layton Beard says.
