Homophobia suspected in death of Ntuzuma man

The family of a Durban man who's been murdered believe the attack was fuelled by homophobia and hate.

The body of 34-year-old Sphamandla Khoza of Ntuzuma was found in a dense bush next to a school on Monday. The discovery was made by a passerby who'd been dropping kids off at the school.
Family spokesperson Dr Ndumiso Ngidi says the alleged perpetrator is known to them.
"He lived openly as a gay man. Has grandmother did indicate that he's been receiving threats from people within the community around his sexuality", he said.
Khoza's family says the suspect has handed himself over to SAPS.
Last week an Umlazi man who stabbed local musician and activist, Lindokuhle Cele, in an apparent hate crime was sentenced to 25 years in prison.
