Home Affairs system back online today
Updated | By Zongile Mthimkhulu
The Department of Home Affairs expects its online verification system to be back up today.
The system went offline last week after cables were damaged as a result of a power failure.
Director-General Mkuseli Apleni says services, including the application for a smart cards and passports, and the collection of these documents remain affected.
"Only in the offices which have got the modernised system. In the rest of the offices, you are able to get those documents as well as services for birth, marriage and death certificates and applications to change surnames," he said.
