Home Affairs to extend working hours this weekend
Updated | By Sandile Zikhali
Home Affairs will be opening its doors a little longer this weekend.

Parliament's Portfolio Committee on Home Affairs says branches across the country will be extending their working hours to ensure that South African get the documents they need to register for the upcoming general elections.
The IEC is hosting its final voter registration drive this weekend.
To register to vote later this year, you'll need to be a South African citizen, over the age of 18 and have either a green, bar-coded ID book, smartcard ID or Temporary ID Certificate.
The committee's Hlomani Chauke says they want to get as many young people on the voter's roll as possible.
"Home Affairs will be opened over the weekend especially those who might have time to go to Home Affairs during the week to go and collect their IDs. We still have a lot of ID books at Home Affairs. We are making this call again that those who have applied for IDs must go and collect their ID books," Chauke said.
You can also check your current registration details by visiting your voting station this weekend.
Voters can check their registration status, current voting station and ward number here.
