Hlaudi Motsoeneng a no show at Labour Court
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
Hlaudi Motsoeneng has failed to show up at the Labour Court in Johannesburg where he was expected to tell the court why he should not be held personally liable for the wrongful dismissal of the so-called SABC8 journalists.
The court has not been given reasons for the former SABC COO's absence.
The court has also heard that attorneys who were representing the SABC, Motsoeneng and former head of news Simon Tebele withdrew from the case on Friday.
The matter has been postponed to next month.
Solidarity represented some of the journalists in the matter.
The trade union's Anton Van Der Bijl says they want Motsoeneng to be held liable for the legal costs.
"We are of the view that Mr Tebele received the instruction to proceed with the actions but the author or the decision maker was Mr. Hlaudi Motsoeneng," he said.
Van De Bijl says they will also be arguing that the events around the dismissal of the SABC 8 played a role in the death of journalist and producer Suna Venter.
