Hlabisa vows to increase grants if IFP wins polls
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
IFP president Velenkosini Hlabisa says under his government, grants for the elderly and children will be increased.
Hlabisa launched the party's 13-point manifesto to thousands of supporters at Durban's Moses Mabhida Stadium on Sunday.
He promised a grant system that would function if his party was voted into power.
"We will combat the rise in social ills by ensuring every community has access to social workers," Hlabisa said.
He says they will undo, the current government's move to shut down pay points close to communities - forcing grant recipients to use banks.

A senior, Douglas Dlamini, has welcomed the news.
"We are here to support the IFP. We hope the party dominates the Parliament after this year's elections. We want our children to get jobs.
"I hope that the IFP wins these elections. I believe many things can change if the IFP governs the country.
"We want to change our lives; the unemployment rate is too high compared to when the IFP was still in power."
