The Hillcrest police officer accused of killing two women will remain behind bars until next month.

There’s been a delay in Blessing Sikhakhane’s bail application.

The 23-year-old made his second appearance in the Pinetown Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.

Sikhakhane entered the dock clad in the same grey sweater that he wore for his last appearance, with bloodshot eyes and no expression on his face.

He looked behind him once to survey the public gallery before turning back and fixing his gaze on the magistrate.

The constable was meant to apply for bail Wednesday, but his lawyer told the court that the witnesses they plan to call up for the hearing were unable to make it to court.

The defence asked for a postponement to next month, which the State agreed to.

However, it reiterated it planned to oppose bail.

The visible policing officer has arrested two weeks ago after the bodies of 18-year-old Enhle Majola and 24-year-old Sthembile Ngobese were found in his home in Botha's Hill, west of Durban.

The women, both of whom he was apparently in a relationship with, had been shot.
