Hijackers target Durban car dealerships
Updated | By Athi Tutshana
Police are warning car dealerships of an increase in hijackings especially in the Isipingo and Amanzimtoti area.
SAPS's Thulani Zwane says this week there have been numerous reports with suspects using the same modus operandi.
A man calls wanting to test drive a car. He then diverts from the normal route and then the car gets hijacked.
This car salesman from Pinetown has shared with Newswatch what happened to him.
''As soon as we jumped into the car, just around the block, at the first corner that we took, there were two guys standing there. [The buyer] then stopped the car next to them.
''I looked at him thinking that maybe he can't drive the car. The next minute I turn my head and one of the two guys knocks on my left window with a gun asking me to open the door.
''I couldn't open the door because I was just shocked,'' he said.
