The long weekend  - which traditionally sees scores of holidaymakers descend on KZN - is also one of the busiest for law enforcement.

KZN premier Nomusa Dube-Ncube has already vowed to deploy law enforcement agencies in all corners of the province targeting various categories of crime, including cracking down on most wanted criminals.

"Police will continue to conduct strategic operations over the Easter weekend and beyond as part of the Easter Safety and Security Plan recently launched in Pietermaritzburg," said the Office of the Premier.

Speaking at the scene of a cash-in-transit heist in Gauteng on Thursday, Cele said everything seems to be in place to allow for a safe long weekend.

"I was in KZN two days ago. There was a good working together led by the Premier of that province of the operations that will be taking place there.”

Meanwhile, the N3 Toll Concession's Thania Dhoogra says high traffic volumes are expected on the N3 Toll Route towards KZN this weekend.

"In anticipation of the influx of holidaymakers, satellite stations will be strategically located along the N3 toll route, as a base for law enforcement, road traffic management and emergency services."
