Heavy rain, flash flood alert for parts of KZN
Updated | By Portia Cele
KwaZulu-Natal residents are to brace themselves for heavy downpours and wind gusts in parts of the province, from this afternoon.
The SA Weather Service says a watch has been issued for heavy rain and strong south-westerly winds along the north coast - as a cold front moves over central SA, eastwards.
Areas along the east coast and adjacent interior will also be affected.
"Tonight over KZN coastal areas, especially south of Richards Bay, we do expect showers and rain to persist. This could also lead to localised flooding in areas of those municipalities," forecaster, Wiseman Dlamini said.
The affected districts include Ugu, eThekwini, ILembe, and parts of King Cetshwayo.
WATCH: 05 April 2019- Heavy rain is expected along the coast and adjacent interior of KwaZulu-Natal except the north coast today (Friday) (mainly late afternoon into the evening).

Communities near rivers, and streams should also be on alert.
"There could be instances where the rain is heavy at times which could lead to localised flooding. A significant amount of rain building up may lead to overflowing rivers. Communities surrounding those areas may be directly affected," he said.
