Heavy rain causes partial building collapse in Durban
Updated | By Natarah Nadesen, Portia Cele
The torrential downpour yesterday evening has led to the partial collapse of a 30-metre high warehouse in Clairwood, south of Durban.
"The roof became too heavy with the rain and one wall was pushed onto the road. Two gables are still standing. It's just the one wall that collapsed over and the roof has come down," he says.
eThekwini Fire and Rescue's Trevor Stevens says firefighters were called to the site along Ganesh Road at 3am today - several hours after the roof came down. He says no one was hurt.

"There were no injuries - there was no one living there. It was a derelict warehouse which had a lot of timber but hasn't been used for a long time," he says.
Stevens says they're trying to locate the owners of the warehouse.
Meanwhile, heavy rain's likely to continue for the rest of the day as a cold front blasts through KZN.
