Updated | By Zongile Mthimkhulu
Parts of KZN will experience severely hot conditions this weekend as a heatwave continues to grip the country.
Temperatures in the high 30s are forecast in some parts of the province, with the mercury expected to rise to 39 Degrees in Ladysmith today.
Emergency services are urging those who plan to spend time outdoors to take the necessary precautions to avoid heat stroke and dehydration.
KZN Emergency Medical Services’ spokesperson, Robert Mckenzie, says there some things that can be done to keep cool.
"People need to avoid unnecessary physical activities during the heat of the day which between about 9am and 3pm. You need to drink water before becoming thirsty. Also if you are out and about wear white or light coloured clothing. Do not wear jackets and beanies," he said.
Hot conditions are expected to last until next week.
