Heartbreak in Libya as 2000 killed in flood

Heart-wrenching scenes
from a flood disaster in Libya are grabbing headlines worldwide.
More than 2,000 people are reported to be dead in the northeastern city of Derna following a huge storm and flooding afterwards.
It's understood two dams burst.
Rami Elshaheibi, who is with the World Health Organisation in Libya. says the situation is more disastrous than they expected.

"The numbers keep piling up so those who have not been reported as found are considered very likely to be dead or under the rubbles of those buildings that collapse after the floods."
Some 10 000 people are missing so officials expect the numbers to rise. Humanitarian agencies will launch an international appeal soon.
