Health, Home Affairs working on solution to vaccinate undocumented foreign nationals
Health Minister Joe Phaahla says the Department of Health is working with its counterparts at Home Affairs to start vaccinating undocumented foreign nationals.
Phaahla was briefing the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) on the country's vaccination programme on Tuesday.
He says there are enough vaccines to accommodate even foreign nationals.
However, some form of identification will be required.
“The vaccines are available for foreign nationals. We are working with embassies but also all foreign nationals with documentations is much easier. Everybody in South Africa with passport or some form of documentation can be vaccinated.

"What is required is that there must be some form of record in case there are adverse side effects. The difficulties with foreign nationals is in terms of those who are undocumented.
“We are working with Home Affairs to try and find a solution because when a person is vaccinated, we need to have some form of record even if it is just a temporary Identification card.”
