Health Dept expects 40% of adult population to be fully jabbed by mid-Nov

The Health Ministry expects 40 percent of adults in the country to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 by mid-November.
Health Minister Joe Phaahla says more than 22 million doses of the coronavirus jabs have been administered to around 15 million individuals - covering nearly 38% of the adult population.
Phaahla briefed the media on Friday morning on our vaccination rollout programme.
He says he is pleased to see people returning for their second dose of the Pfizer vaccine.
"We are especially optimistic about reaching 70 percent of the over 60 age group and also we are very optimists about very close to 70 percent also of the 50 to 59-year cohort by the end of December."
Meanwhile, the minister has also announced incentives for those who receive the jab on election day.
Pop-up vaccination sites are being made available at 1 000 voting stations.
"Nandos is offering 1000 vouchers valued at R500 each which will be awarded to members of 15 best performing teams in each province which means 135 teams spread equally in all 9 provinces will benefit with each team member receiving the R500 voucher."
"Uber has also offered free rides up to R100 each for health workers who will be on duty on Election Day. "
R100 grocery vouchers will also be given to the over 60s who get their first vaccine in November.
