Headless body of woman found on Durban beach, police investigate

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a woman, whose body was found on a Durban beach.

Durban SAPS Search and Rescue members were called out to retrieve the body that was spotted by a security guard on Cuttings Beach near the Mondi Canal yesterday.
Officers who attended the scene say once they retrieved the body, they found that it was in an advanced stage of decomposition.
They say on examination, they found that the body was decapitated and had her feet and hands removed.

Police say the state of decomposition was too advanced to ascertain if the missing body parts had been removed by unnatural means
Once recovered, rescuers handed the body over to Wentworth SAPS who have opened an inquest docket.
Police are yet to establish the woman's identity.
