Hawks raid Gupta residence
The Hawks have raided the controversial Gupta family's Saxonworld home on Wednesday morning.
The elite-crime fighting unit conducted an early-morning raid at the Gupta home.
Spokesperson, Hangwani Mulaudzi confirmed the swoop at the property but could not provide any further details.
"We are raiding that compound but we are not in a position to talk about it now because we are still busy."
The raid follows allegations of state capture made against the family. The Gupta featured prominently in former Public Protector Thuli Madonsela's State of Capture report.
The Hawks also recently conducted a search and seizure operation at the office of Free State Premier Ace Magashule and the provincial office of the department of agriculture.
The operation relates to the Vrede dairy farm project in the Free State, which Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane fingered as being grossly negligent and riddled with procurement irregularities and maladministration.
