This comes after the NPA dropped fraud charges against Finance Minister, Pravin Gordhan and two former SARS officials - Ivan Pillay and Oupa Magashula.

The party's Alex Mashilo feels the crime fighting unit's work ethic under Ntlemeza's leadership has been called into question.

"Let's recall that the Hawks are led by a man who was found by the court to be dishonest, a man who has lied under oath and lacked integrity and honour as the court said. It is very clear that the Hawks too must be fixed," he said.

Political parties are also questioning the competency of National Prosecuting Authority head, Shaun Abrahams. IFP Member of Parliment Mkhuleko Hlengwa says Abrahams should face a similar investigation.

"This is so that we can get to the bottom of the political nature of the decisions he has taken and which have cost the economy over R60-billion particularly with South Africa being at the brink of being downgraded to junk status," he said.
