Half a billion rand relief fund set aside for SA farmers

Agriculture Minister Thoko Didiza says just over 500 million rand has been set aside for South African farmers who've applied for the Agricultural Disaster Fund.
She says 15-thousand farmers have been approved - and will receive a maximum of R15-000 each, to assist with operations during the pandemic.
Over two thousand applications came from KZN.

Speaking in Pretoria yesterday - Didiza said livestock was the most requested commodity, followed by vegetables, poultry, and fruit.
Out of these approved applications - 5,494 are women, 2,493 are young farmers, and 224 are people with disabilities.
The remaining number is 9542 who are the male farmers.
