Gun violence in KZN becoming deadlier - analyst

A prominent KwaZulu-Natal-based violence monitor says curbing criminals access to illegal guns remains a mammoth challenge for the province's authorities.

Mary De Haas has been unpacking the double mass shooting incident in Umlazi.
Eleven people lost their lives.
The analyst says gun violence in KZN, over the past few decades, has gotten worse.
"Umlazi has had gangsters like a lot of other deprived areas under apartheid for decades, but before the province was flooded with guns in the 1980s, the killings were mainly stabbing or hackings, but guns have got access.
"There's a lot of people who may or may not be registered as bodyguards or taxi guards.”
