Guilty Empangeni teachers could face disciplinary action, charges

The KZN Education Department must ensure that pupils are always protected in the classroom.
This is the view of the Commission for Gender Equality - which has been reacting after sexual assault allegations surfaced at a KZN school.
The department said it was investigating allegations that some teachers at a high school in Empangeni have been soliciting sexual favours from pupils in exchange for better academic marks.

Irate parents stopped the academic programme at the school - calling for the principal to step down. They claim management at the school were protecting teachers.
The Commission's Javu Baloyi says their doors are open.
"We hope that those who have been deceived in the process come to the Commission ad report such so that we can investigate speedily and ensure this doesn't happen again," he said.
Muzi Mahlambi who's with the Education Department says investigations continue.
