According to the SAPS, 43-year-old Cosmos Eke was taken into custody at his home, also in Greytown, earlier this month.

There, police seized 42 bags of cocaine powder, rock cocaine and a scale - among other things.

"A variety of foreign currency were found inside the house as well as cash suspected to be the proceeds of drugs. The estimated street value of the recovered drugs is R20 000-00," says spokesperson Nqobile Gwala.

Gwala says officers also pounced on one of their own.

"Both suspects appeared before the Greytown Magistrates Court on 16 April 2021. They were remanded in custody until 23 April 2021."

Eke and Constable Clifford Naicker will line up in court on Friday.
