Grade 9 pupil killed, baby hurt after being hit by car on N2
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
A teenager has been killed and her three-month-old baby girl left seriously hurt - after they were run over by a car in the vicinity of Westwood Mall.
Reports from the scene, on the N2 north near Spaghetti Junction, are that the teen had been carrying the infant at the time of the crash.
Life Response's Leon Fourie says the Grade 9 pupil was found lying in the middle of the road on Friday morning and the baby in the arms of a bystander.
"Paramedics found that the mom sadly passed away on the scene and the baby was treated for injuries. The mom sustained multiple fractures and the baby had a fractured jaw, and we also treated her for a fractured arm."
Fourie says the baby was taken to hospital in a critical to stable condition.
"The vehicle that also collided with the pedestrians also had four occupants in it that had minor to moderate injuries," says Fourie.
