Grace Mugabe slammed over rape comments
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
Zimbabwe's First Lady Grace Mugabe has received criticism after allegedly making comments that women who wear short skirts deserve to be raped.
Speaking at a rally in Mberengwa, southern Zimbabwe, the 50-year-old was quoted saying - "If you walk around wearing mini skirts displaying your thighs and inviting men to drool over you, then you want to complain when you have been raped?"
"That is unfortunate because it will be your fault." she reportedly said in Shona.
This comes as President Mugabe announced in September that his government was considering castration in order to deter sexual offenders in the country.
The First Lady is touring the country ahead of Zanu-PF's annual conference next month
Social media users took to Twitter in disapproval of Grace's apparent comments - see them below.
