Government says it's worried about the political and security situation in eSwatini.

The Department of International Relations and Cooperation says it's particularly concerned about media reports that lives have been lost and property destroyed during pro-democracy protests.

"The South African government calls on the security forces to exercise total restraint and protect the lives and property of the people, in keeping with the country’s constitutional provisions and laws.
"In addition, South Africa urges all political actors and civil society to engage in meaningful dialogue in order to resolve the current political challenges facing the country."
Swazis have been demonstrating to demand political reform in Africa's last absolute monarchy.
According to reports from eSwatini, the streets were deserted Thursday morning after pro-democracy activists claimed that eight people were killed in clashes with police.
Authorities are yet to confirm the claims.
