Govt 'must compensate' Marikana families
Updated | By Nondumiso Zakwe

Another debate into the Marikana Report is underway in the National Assembly.
44 people lost their lives and many others were injured at the Lonmin Mine in August 2012.
34 of them were killed when police opened fire on a group of striking miners on August 16.
Maimane says there has to be justice.
''It remains inconceivable that the decision to implement the tactical operations on August 16 were made without Minister Nathi Nhleko's knowledge. This government must pay for what took place at Marikana that day,'' he said.
Cope MP Willie Madisha has called on the government to provide for the families in Marikana.
"The people in Marikana must get proper education facilities, they injured in particular must get continued assistance medically,'' he said.
