Govt extends the validity of expired licences

The Department of Transport says all learners' licences and drivers' licence cards that expired during the COVID-19 lockdown period from 26 March until the end of August this year - will remain valid until 31 January 2021

The department published the new guidelines in the Government Gazette on Wednesday.
It says this applies to professional driving permits as well.

It's a relief for those who've been struggling to reapply for these important documents.
On motor vehicle licence disks, temporary permits and roadworthy certificates, Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula says if they expired anytime between 26 March and 31 May - their validity's been extended until the 31st of August this year.
