Govt efforts continue toward inclusive economic growth: Mchunu
Updated | By Shaun Ryan
KZN Premier, Willies Mchunu has affirmed government's commitment to work with big business to ensure inclusive economic growth.
Mchunu, in his capacity as co-chair of the KZN Growth Coalition, and MEC for Economic Development, Sihle Zikalala met with captains of industry in Umhlanga yesterday.
Mchunu says government and business have joined hands to steer the ship - even through stormy seas.
The Premier also stressed the importance of skills development in ensuring socio-economic development.
Mchunu says the total output of all sectors of the provincial economy grew from R400-billion in 2010 to just under R500-billion in 2017, despite challenging times since 2011.
He mentioned a sluggish world economy, slow domestic growth, currency volatility and declining resource prices. He said formal employment in KZN has grown from 2.3-million in 2010 to 2.6-million in 2017.
