Google remembers Hugh Masekela's 80th birthday
South Africans and fans across the globe are remembering blues legend, Hugh Masekela. The father of South African jazz would have been 80-years-old today.
His birthday is being celebrated with Google Doodle in the US, UK, South Africa and a few other countries.
Masekela passed away in January last year after battling prostate cancer since his diagnosis in 2008.
A trumpeter, composer, and singer - Bra Hugh rose to fame in the 50s.
He is also a published author - having released his autobiography, Still Grazing: The Musical Journey of Hugh Masekela in 2004.
Bra Hugh is remembered as a social activist who wrote about issues plaguing pre-democracy and modern SA.
