‘Good progress’ with repairs to oThongathi Water Treatment Plant - Kaunda

eThekwini mayor Mxolisi Kaunda says good progress has been made with repairs to the oThongathi Water Treatment Plant.

The mayor assessed the repairs on Saturday, after the April floods destroyed infrastructure, leaving the community without water.
Kaunda says work at the plant should be completed by October to allow for full restoration of water supply in affected areas.
The mayor introduced a contractor to start repairs at the plant last month.

Mayor Kaunda says there is 15 percent progress on the repairs.
He believes work on the plant should be completed by October to allow for the full restoration of water supply in affected areas.
"It is pleasing that the plant has been stabilise and work has began on the new power station that will assist with pumping water from the plant to more than five reservoirs that are supplied by this plant," Kaunda says.
