Glebelands 'hit list' tops Public Protector's agenda

It will take at least three months for Public Protector Thuli Madonsela to complete her investigation into the violence at Glebelands Hostel in Umlazi, south of Durban.

She has met residents of the Hostel's R block who were previously not there during her December visit.
She will also be meeting with residents of block 52, apparently a rival to block R.
Madonsela says this is a crucial stage of the probe and that is why the meetings are closed to the media.

"It was alleged by Miss Vanessa Burger that there is a hit list and with the first group it has been confirmed there is a hit list with 21 people.
"We have alerted the general with us to make sure that is taken care of and there is protection provided to the people," she said.
