Girl drowns in Westville swimming pool
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
A 10-year-old girl has died after drowning in a swimming pool in Westville on New Year's Day.

It's believed she had been enjoying herself in the community pool when tragedy struck.
Rescue Care spokesperson, Garrith Jamieson says paramedics arrived to find lifeguards performing CPR on her lifeless body.
"Immediately Advanced Life Support Paramedics took over the resuscitation efforts. Despite close to 45 minutes of resuscitation efforts, the child showed no signs of life, and she was declared deceased on the scene. It is unknown how long the child was in the water," he said.
As citizens are more likely to spend time around water bodies to cool down these holidays, Jamieson shares some advice.
"We saw thousands of people flock to the beach yesterday, please swim in designated lifeguard areas to ensure your safety. Please keep pool nets on or fenced unless there is adult supervision for children that are in and near water," he said.
