Ginwala remembered as ‘eloquent, persuasive champion’ of SA people’s cause

activist Frene Ginwala has been lauded for the pioneering role she played in
the struggle for democracy.
A memorial service was held for Ginwala in Johannesburg on Tuesday.
The founding speaker of the country's democratic Parliament passed away recently at the age of 90.
President Cyril Ramaphosa said she led with determination.
"Whether in Tanzania, whether she was being deported, thrown out, brought in, she did excellently well in other vital parts of our continent and Zambia, Mozambique, UK and wherever else her assignments took her.
"Comrade Frene Ginwala was an eloquent, persuasive champion of the cause of the South African people."

Former South African ambassador to the US Barbara Masekela described Ginwala as a woman of integrity and the epitome of power.
"She has achieved so much and she has left us this brilliant legacy which is immeasurable and will always shine a light in the darkness of history."
