KZN police spokesperson, Thembeka Mbele says investigators arrested Bhulai's 20-year-old girlfriend and the suspect at a local lodge.
The couple had booked accommodation using the victim's card.
"During the course of their investigation, detectives discovered that the pair were a couple. Siphesihle Buthelezi (20) was convicted and sentenced to 15 years imprisonment for murder and one-year imprisonment for theft," she says.
Mbele says charges against the female accused were withdrawn at court.
