Founder of the humanitarian aid group Gift of the Givers, Imtiaz Sooliman, says the situation in Gaza is worsening day by day.

"Civilian blocks have been flattened; 10 hospitals have been directly targeted. For those that are surviving, there is no place, there's no beds, there's no floor space.

 

"The only power plant doesn't work anymore. There's no electricity, no water. They provide water from the desalination plants that we've set up it’s not enough for 2.3 million people."

Israel's been carrying out air strikes in Gaza in revenge for Hamas' surprise attacks last weekend. 

 

Both Israel and the Palestinian people are counting the human cost of the war - with over 1 400 lives lost in Gaza. 

 

The number of Israelis killed stands at 1 200. 

 

Sooliman says the people of Gaza are in a humanitarian crisis.

"They try to move families to safe places. The first two days, white phosphorus headers were used. It’s a banned substance it’s not allowed in war. 

 

"If trucks want to bring food items from Egypt, they have been threatened, they will be bombed. This is no way to fight a war."
